Dr Susan Parry

Associate Professor

Associate Professor Susan Parry, MB ChB, FRACP, is a gastroenterologist, specialising in familial gastrointestinal cancers. She is the Clinical Director of the New Zealand Gastrointestinal Cancer Service and leading the charge as the Clinical Director of the Ministry Of Health’s Bowel Cancer Programme; on a mission to roll out a national bowel cancer screening program for everyone aged 60-74 years old.

In practice for over 34 years, Dr Parry was Claire’s lead specialist and doctor for six years while treating her for Crohn’s Disease. She has treated hundreds of patients throughout New Zealand with a particular passion for adolescents, young women and young mothers. 

“You cannot treat a gut disease in isolation, you have to treat the WHOLE person,” says Susan.
